Sound

sound

This image alters the quality and register of its tone according to the amount of light it receives and the angle at which the rays strike its surface. Its visual field is therefore not fixed, but modulated by changing illumination.

As in sound, where a slight shift in frequency produces a different resonance, the tonal structure of the work continuously moves between densities, intensities, and perceptual states. What is seen is dependent on how the surface is “played” by light.
