This work is based on an informal yet persistent investigation into the number of stair steps in Herceg Novi, a town whose urban structure appears to have been designed in open disagreement with horizontal movement.
Due to constant elevation changes, interrupted pathways, and the psychological collapse of the observer after repeated counting, an exact total remains unverified. Preliminary findings suggest that the number is excessive, unstable, and possibly self-generating.
The study confirms that in Herceg Novi every destination exists at the measurable distance of approximately one hundred unnecessary steps more than expected.
